How to Create a Google Business Profile (General Steps)
Follow these steps to create your Google Business Profile correctly:
Step 1: Sign in to Google
Go to Google and sign in using the Google account you want to use to manage your business.
Step 2: Search for Your Business Name
Type your business name into Google. Here is the URL – Search my business in Google
- If your business appears, claim it
- If it doesn’t, select “Add your business to Google”
Step 3: Enter Your Business Name
Use your real-world business name exactly as it is used offline.
Important: Do not add keywords, locations, or services to your business name.
Step 4: Choose the Primary Business Category
Select the category that best represents your main business activity. This is one of the most important ranking factors in Google Business Profile.
Step 5: Add Location or Service Area
- Physical businesses: Add your business address
- Service-area businesses: Hide your address and add service locations
Step 6: Add Contact Details
Enter your:
- Phone number
- Website URL ( Optional)
Step 7: Verify Your Business
Google may verify your business using:
- Phone or email
- Video verification
Once verified, your Google Business Profile becomes visible to customers on Google Search and Google Maps.
